Yuva Act Festival 2010 : Swarnamadhya co-ordinated ‘Yuva
Act Festival’ which was a prominent part of ‘Mumbai Saptaranga 2010’ in association with ‘Directorate of
Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra’ & South Central Zone
Cultural Centre. It was a presentation of six award
winning one-acts of Youths.
The aim behind the festival was provide due
importance, equal to the mainstream theatre to this very
popular form. We were involved in the activity, to
support the cause.

Yuva Ekankika Mahotsav will take place on 22nd Jan. 2010
to 24th Jan. 2010 at N.C.P.A., Mumbai & on 24th Jan.
2010 at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai.
It is a presentation of six finest, highly praised, &
award winning One –Acts from all over Maharashtra &
Gujrat
Agnishikha (Gujrati)

Era of the play is 500 BC - two vedas were created – the other
two yet to be created - time when Bhratvarsh was
dominated by Brahmin Dharma - the era where only Brahmins had
right to light the lamp and do worship - its about that time
when Buddh and Mahavir’s ideology influenced common people - the
play begins in this situation - it is story about the Varishth
Bhramin , his wife , A shudra and his son (chota shudra) - how
their life gets influenced each other when their path crosses in
very subtle way creating a significant impact - Its about the
conflict within Bhramin - his ideology - his constant fear that
Brahmin dharma may persih - his quest to find
Pahele kaun
Dharma Ya manushya ? the answer he gets from two different
individuals are conflicting reflections of that time - its a
tale about the effort to save the true religion within us.
Surajwali Raat (Gujrati)

Nishith
Kapasi,son of an influential industrialist, suddenly
and most unimaginably, finds himself spending a
night on city footpath. Of course not voluntarily.
After causing a minor car accident, arrogant Nishith
curses the pavement dwellers for using the footpath
as their home and not trying hard enough to get a
better life. Kanji, a young poor worker, immediately
turns the table on Nishith by threatening political
consequences. He makes Nishith realize how awkwardly
his father would be placed because of his drunken
driving in a dry state, especially at the time of
the elections. Nishith gets terribly nervous and
forced to accept a strange condition. Nishith is not
only required to spend the night on the footpath
manage to sleep at least for an hour.
Lukka chhupi (Hindi)

Lukka
Chhupi means hide and seek. Hide and seek is a game
played by children but what if the emotions, love,
envy, jealousy start playing hide and seek with a
child?. This is what the play is all about. The main
character of the play is a 12 year old child Vilku
who loses his mother at the time of birth. Being
constantly traumatized by his depressed father who
accuses him for his beloved wifes murder he starts
to believe he is a murderer. Soon it takes a toll on
his mentality. He becomes a loner and is always
insulted and the centre of all jokes among his
classmates. The psychological trauma being faced by
Vilku is hidden by the love of his dearest
grandmother who has been taking care of him since
birth. But the anguish inside Vilku doesn’t cool
down and keeps on growing till the end. What happens
when the anger, sadness, trauma reach their peak and
will this hide and seek of mixed emotions ever
cease? Will vilku ever come out of this tragedy? All
questions will be answered at the very carefully
kept secret at the end.
Tathastu (Marathi)

Play Speaks about the never ending human needs and the resulting
Dependency on materialistic possessions. A couple decides to
lead a life with only those things which are most essential for
survival. However in the process they discover that theist of
the basic needs in this era has extended far beyond food,
clothing and shelter. Production and script had an impact and
made the audience think for a moment.
Vithabaicha Kawla (Marathi)

Sole of human beings becomes crow
after death is a common belief or disbelief you
decide after watching Vithubai cha kawala. A Marathi
satire on Hindu rituals after death.
